How To Pass the MUEC

Am I affected by the revisions to the MUEC?

Revisions to the Michigan Uniform Energy Code apply to all new constructions for detached 1 and 2 family homes and multiple single-family dwellings.  Compliance with the new codes varies depending on the climate zone of your location.

How do I comply with the MUEC?

Complying with the revisions to the Michigan Uniform Energy Code (MUEC) is easier than you may think.  For new residential construction projects, compliance with the MUEC can be demonstrated by any of the following:

  1. Meeting the Minimum Required Thermal Performance Criteria for both U-Factor and R-Value
  2. Meeting the Requirements of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)
  3. Meeting the Design, Construction, and Certification Requirements Under the Energy Star Home Program
  4. Meeting the Design & Construction Requirements in Conformance with the National Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Guidelines with an index of 85 or Higher

How do I determine whether I comply with the MUEC?

At Ver Wys Home Improvement, we are certified to qualify home builders for the Michigan Uniform Energy Code.

Passing the MUEC does not require an on-site assessment.  New constructions can be pre-approved under the MUEC with only a blueprint.  Using the REScheck software, our technicians will determine the compliance requirements for your residential construction projects.
